Murano 'Tronchi' Glass Chandelier by Venini, Italy 1970s

A rare, beautiful chrome and Italian Murano glass chandelier attributed to Venini. The fixture is comprised of 13 individual hand-blown 'Tronchi' glass tubes, which perch upon a two-tier chrome frame. Each tube is hand made by master glassblowers. The frame is marked Camer, who was a well known distributor of Murano glass during this time.

VENINI (1921 - present) was founded by Paolo Venini and Giacomo Cappelin. The company became a well-recognized name in Murano glass production, reaching its golden age in the 1980s, and Paolo became an important contributor to twentieth century Italian design. Venini embarked on collaborations with several distinguished architects and designers, including Cini Boeri, Tomaso Buzzi, Gio Ponti, Carlo Scarpa, Ettore Sottsass, Alessandro Mendini, Tapio Wirkkala, Gae Aulenti, Tyra Lundgren, Mona Morales-Schildt, and Massimo Vignelli.
