Paul Klee, Lady Apart | Silkscreen Print in Gilt Frame

A stunning abstract Paul Klee silkscreen print, titled "Lady Apart (Dame Abseits)." Klee's original work, which portrays a distinctively conceptual image of a woman, was completed in 1940 and now resides in the MoMA's permanent collection. It features his signature abstracted style of drawing, in which he would often refrain from taking the tip of his pen or brush off the canvas. While teaching at the German art school, Bauhaus, Klee stated that this method of drawing was akin to "taking a line for a walk."

An elegant embossed border showcases the design of this rare print, with facsimile signature in the lower left corner. Published by O.v.H. design London (1995), and hand printed in the United Kingdom on heavy matte paper. It has been reframed in a custom gilt impasto frame, with acid-free hinging, matting, backing, and glare-free museum glass (99% UV-protection) for both the best protection and the best viewing experience.

PAUL KLEE (1879-1940) was a German painter renowned for his unique expressive style incorporating an abstract language of pictorial symbols and signs. Arrows, letters, musical notation and ancient hieroglyphs frequently appear in his enigmatic paintings. A fundamental avant-gardist, Klee was a peer of Kandinsky and teacher at the Bauhaus. His individual approach resists categorisation, although there are influences of Expressionism, Cubism and Futurism. Also a musician, Klee believed in the link between music and painting which manifests in the visual rhythm of his work.
